The teacher’s wooden paddle Michael Jackson and classmate David Holloway felt a few times during school hours at Garnett Elementary School in Gary during the 1960s, between the first and fifth grades.

Big Boy, the Jackson Five’s first record recorded by Steeltown Records in Gary, late in 1967. It was released in January of 1968. Soon after the song was released, Michael sang the song for fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Vera Hooper and all of his classmates.

Michael Jackson’s classmate David Holloway’s 1967, third grade Garnett Elementary School Good Citizen Certificate. Michael Jackson earned the same certificate in 1967, in the same classroom with his best friend David, approximately two years before he became a star with Motown late in 1969.
